Faith

Sermon for Thursday after the First Sunday of Lent, February 17, 1622

Faith: Concerning faith as the adhesion of the understanding to the truths revealed by God or the Church, living faith which produces the fruit of good works vs. dead or dying faith, vigilant, penetrating faith vs. dormant faith, the supernatural prudence which accompanies vigilant faith, attentive faith, confidence in prayer, perseverance in prayer, patience in prayer, and humility in prayer.

Our faith should be naked and simple

Letters to Persons in the world, Letter to a nun on Christian Faith: The truths of Faith are sometimes agreeable to the human spirit, not only because God has revealed them by His word and proposed them by His Church, but also because these truths suit our taste, and because we enter into them thoroughly, we understand them easily, and they are according to our inclinations.
