SIN
Sin is shameful only at the time we commit it. Changed into confession and repentance, it is honourable and brings salvation. (Introduction to the Devout Life, Part I, Chapter 19)

Open wide your heart to make all the sins go out from it by confession. To the extent that they go out of your heart, to that extent will the precious merit of the divine Passion enter in to fill it with blessings. (Introduction to the Devout Life, Part I, Chapter 19)

Attachments to sin grow up afresh in us, due to our weakness and our evil inclinations. We can discipline them but they will never die as long as we live here on earth. (Introduction to the Devout Life, Part I, Chapter 22)

Sin is within us when we feel the revolt of our sensuality; it does not reign in us, however, until we give way to the feeling. (Treatise on the Love of God, Book 9, Chapter 7)

There are three steps leading down to sin: the temptation, the delight the consent. So there are three steps leading up to virtue: the inspiration which is the opposite of temptation; the delight in the inspiration ... the consent to the inspiration. (Treatise on the Love of God, Book 2, Chapter 18)

Once charity is ours, free will wears the wedding garment. We can keep it on by doing good, or take it off by sinning, just as we please. (Treatise on the Love of God, Book 4, Chapter 1)

A sinner can perform actions which are naturally good, which win a natural reward; he can do things which are socially good, for which he is paid in human coin - temporal advantages. (Treatise on the Love of God, Book 11, Chapter 1)

Sickness or injury [venial sin] can deprive the body of vitality, deprive it of movement or feeling; only death [mortal sin] can still the heart. So it is with charity - no venial sin ever destroys charity's powerful influence m function. (Treatise on the Love of God, Book 4, Chapter 2)
